Neurodiversity Support

Following the clergy wellbeing survey which indicated that many of you have a neurodivergent condition, we are paying close attention to how we can support you at the event. As much as we hope the event will be life-giving and enjoyable, we are also aware that these events can be overwhelming and draining for those who find intense personal interaction and a full agenda a little hard to manage. In response, I wanted to share the support that is available for you.

  • There will be a dedicated team. Those wearing purple lanyards are part of the conference team and are available to help with any queries you have.

  • There is a tour of the site at 9:30am leaving from reception for anyone who would find this helpful. Just come to reception and look out for Rev Jim Wigglesworth.

  • The first room on the left as you go into the Derbyshire suite is a designated quiet room.  This room will be available throughout the conference if you need time away. Please feel free to go to this space whenever you need to, no questions asked.

  • There will be designated quiet tables in the dining room.  These will be clearly labelled. Delegates who prefer a break from interaction over meals are welcome to use these tables. Everyone is asked to be mindful of these tables and respect the request for quiet please.

  • As far as is possible, the conference room has been set up with neurodiversity in mind, for example there will be some bean bags for those who prefer a relaxed seating option.

If you would like us to know a little more about your neurodivergence and have any specific needs that will help you, please contact Claire Lees in confidence (claire.lees@derby.anglican.org). Claire will only share information with those who need to know, and with your full agreement. We will sensitively and confidentially offer support as required.
